if i can feel your body heat, you're standing too close

i'm so glad its finally friday.  its been such a looooong stressful week.  i think i have a knot in my neck because it hurts a whole lot.  oh well its a good excuse to go get a massage. =)  and i think its safe to say that green snot season is officially here.  i think its starting early because all of the kids went trick or treating in the rain the other day and now have runny noses.  thats just wonderful.

i had to stop at the credit union on the way home today.  i swear the dude standing in line behind me had no concept at all of personal space.  he was standing so close to me i could feel his body heat.  ew.  to his credit at least he didn't have body odor. 

anyhow my parents and i went out for dinner when i got home.  after dinner we had to stop to pick up milk and we saw their coworker.  my mom introduced me to him and he exclaimed "wow you got HUGE!"  now tell me that isn't offensive.  so i promptly gave him the look of death and he quickly explained himself by saying, "the last time i saw you you were just a little girl..."  seriously people, if it doesn't sound good in your head, don't say it out loud. 

its raining cats and dogs

so halloween in our neighborhood got rained out last night.  last year we ran out of candy in 20 minutes because theres so many kids in our neighborhood so this year we bought 40 bucks worth of candy.  we passed out maybe a quarter of it before it started pouring.  poor kids!  but at least the kids got some trick or treating done.  it was so cute to see all those princesses, power rangers, and spider men out there.  but it did disturb me when the big kids came (in no costume) held out their backpacks, and said "trick or treat" in their low voices.  and when i say big kids, i don't just mean older high school aged kids.  we're talking six foot tall kids. 

i had to drive to kailua today for training.  it was a lovely hour and a half drive.  i printed a map from the internet last night so i was positive i could find the school with no problem.  well i followed the freakin map and got totally lost!  (damn you mapquest!)  and to make matters worse it started to rain really hard.  but anyhow i was able to find the place without being late. 

work has been rough lately but i've been hanging in there.  i was talking to a friend the other day who said they wanted a job that they'd be excited about going to everyday.  that they could wake up and be like "yay i get to go to work today!"   i couldn't help but smile on the inside because that was exactly what i used to wish for about four years ago before starting grad school.  sigh i used to be so idealistic.  i've come to the conclusion that there is no such job.  not for me anyway.  i like my job overall but i don't wake up excited to start the day.  and i don't think that means that i'm in the wrong profession.  i think its just realistic.  i like the fact that my job is fun and rewarding.  i love working with kids.  but i'm just never gonna be the type of person who wakes up excited to go to work. =P

anyhow time to wash my clothes.

so here we are, 3 days post earthquake.  sunday was an interesting day.  the electricity went out about 10 minutes after the quake, and we didn't want to open the refrigerator, so we went to buy some food.  most of the places nearby were closed (because most places are closed in the mormon community on sundays) and also because the power was out.  we ended up driving pretty far for food.  and its a good thing we had cash because the supermarket was on a cash only basis.  we got the last bag of ice, some crackers, bentos, etc.  it sure made me realize how unprepared we were for a disaster!  we didn't have a portable radio, so we had to go out to the car and turn on the radio every time we wanted updates.  i had to take the batteries out of my toothbrush so we could use our flashlights.  it was a good learning experience.  we were lucky enough to get power back at 7:30 pm.  at my parents house, the power didn't come on until 2 am, and so unfortunately my koi died because his pump was off for so long.  i told my mom i'm filing a claim with heco....

anyhow i must have the word "sucker" written on my forehead.  people keep bugging me to go to informational meetings about their bussinesses.  ugh and for some reason i just can't say no.  bleh.  i just no interest in such things, especially pyramid schemes.  i've decided that one job is more than enough for me.  i was thinking before about taking a second job, but i've decided definitely not.  friday the 13th last week was just a horrible horrible day at work and i decided just to take it easy for now.

i went to the preschool to do some testing today.  i was interacting with the student today when all of a sudden, something wet and hard hits me in the side of the head.  some kid had thrown sand (which was wet from the rainy weather) wrapped in a giant leaf at my head.  nice.  but other than that it was a good day.  i got a lot of work done today. 

i'm thinking of doing some part-time seasonal work.  i could really use the extra money.  but we'll see.  i'm always so exhausted at the end of the day i don't see how i'll have the engery for a second job.  last night i was so tired i fell asleep at 8:30 pm!!  but it would only be seasonal so we'll see.

just thinking

i was doing more cleaning last night, and found some magazines i had saved when i was about 11 years old.  you'd think they'd be teen beat or something but they're actually sports illustrated. one of the magazines i saved was the edition when magic retired from basketball.  it got me to thinking back to when i was 11 years old.  i thought life was going to be so easy.  i thought by the time i was "old" (meaning the age i am now) i'd be married with two children, living in my big house with the walk in closet.  the cat would live inside and the dog would have to live outside in the front yard.  my best friend and her family was going to live right next door.  my life today isn't bad, its just different from what i thought it would be.  reality has interfered with the plans i made when i was 11 years old.  for one thing, its a lot harder to own a home nowdays.  at this point in my life, i'd be happy just to own a home.  nevermind that walk in closet business.  as for being married with kids, that will come soon enough.  afterall i only finished my masters degree last year.  i don't think i could have handled taking care of a family, working, and going to school at the same time.  (although there were quite a few people who did just that and i gotta hand it to them!  i couldn't have done it!)  about that cat and dog...animals are a huge responsibility.  i don't think i want animals anymore!  i still love 'em but i'm not a huge fan of scooping up animal crap.  anyhow thats enough reflecting for one day....

i finally got the flu shot.  i am NOT a happy camper.  i got the shot over two hours ago and it still hurts like hell!  but since i was in town to get the shot, i decided to meet shaun for lunch.  driving in town reminded me why i hate driving there.  let me list all of the acts of stupidity i observed today:

1. bmw makes right turn from the left turn only lane
2. van almost runs over pedistrians in crosswalk
3. no one waves thank you when you let them in
4. people speed up to cut you off when you put your blinker on
5. i was driving in the fast lane and some jerk cut in front of me from the slow lane and proceeded to drive sloooowly
6. mercedes in front of me does not turn at red light even though sign says you can turn on red after stop. 
   

anyhow my arm hurts so i'm gonna stop typing now.

clean house

i took my car in for servicing this morning since the cd/radio is not working right.  fortunately its still under warranty so they'll replace it for free.  i went shopping after (yeah yeah yeah i know, i'm never gonna buy a house if i keep going shopping) and jockey was having a sale so i went in to take a look.  the wall rack was just jammed with undergarments, so when i tried to put a hanger back on, the whole freakin rack FELL OFF THE WALL!  bras went flying EVERYWHERE!!  i was so embarrassed and i'm ashamed to say i actually considered just running out of the store.  but instead my conscience kicked in and i tried to pick up all the bras but i couldn't get the rack back on the wall so i had to call the lady over for help.  she was actually very nice about the whole thing and laughed it off. i'm glad she saw the humor in it....

so to make myself feel as if its been a productive day, i've been cleaning my room.  i swear i don't know how that little room gets so damned messy when i'm hardly home to live in it any more.  how is it that i manage to trash that place in the two or three nights a week that i sleep in there???
